I am going to start a game with everyone on here! Each week I write an email I am going to say 'HELLO' in a different language and whoever can guess the language (WITHOUT GOOGLING IT) will win for the week! I am a poor missionary and 1,800 miles away from most of you so there aren't any prizes but you can buy yourself some ice cream if you win and just imagine I bought it for you! :'>
We are about half way through the transfer right now and so much happened and we truly are seeing mircles here in the Lake Houston YSA Branch! This last week we had mission tour which is where Hermana Tait and I travel to the other side of the mission for the week and spend it with the sisters on the East side! This is a very bias comment but I am pretty sure we have the best sister missionaries..just sayin! Their testimonies of the Savior are incredible and even though they all have their own struggles, they are choosing to involve their Heavenly Father and push through with the most positive attitudes. I never got to serve on the East side of the mission so being out there was SO FUN and Louisiana is so green it's incredible!!! I got to go on some exchanges with past companions and it was so fun to be back with them and relive some of the early mission days!! Choosing to serve a mission has been one of the best decisions I've ever made and this thought always comes across my mind, "If I hadn't chosen to serve a mission, this would never have happened or I never would have met this person!" Heavenly Father knew what I needed to become and I've abosutely LOVED being here and serving this these extraordinary missionaries!!!!!!!
Yesterday I was on a blitz with Sister Willie (adore her) and we knocked on this trailer that was literally in the middle of the trees! This man named Dwight came out and you guys he is a character and is one of the cheeriest guys I've ever met! He was awesome!!! We started talking with him about Jesus Christ and getting to know him a bit better and he opened up about his life and got a bit more serious. He said he has gone to quite a few different churches but in his own words said, "I just haven't found the shoe that fits yet." Sister Willie and I testified to him very simply that this Jesus Christ's church and I felt the Spirit so strong. This is the "shoe that will fit for him". The Spirit is such a special thing and I have loved trying to recognize all the different ways the Spirit has prompted me throughout my mission. It definitely has not been easy but I am grateful that I get to change and continue to try!! He took a Restoration pamphlet and they set up a return appointment for later in the week! He was SO grateful that we stopped by and it filled my cup that much more. The gospel brings true joy that nothing on this earth can. Just thought I'd share that little experience! :)
As I've been reading my scriptures this week, I have been in the Book of Jarom, Omni, and the Words of Mormon and I really felt the focus they put from a parent's perspective. They talked a lot about how keeping the commandments of God has allowed them to teach their kids their gospel so they can become "men of understanding" (Mosiah 1:2). I have had a lot of reflection this week about how I am going to make my future home and family a gospel centered home and a Christ centered family. Life is still going to be difficult at times no matter what, but it is going to be my responsibility as a parent to teach my children the gospel and help them start to build a relationship with the Savior. My parents set such an incredible example of that and I hope I can do the same for my kids as they did for us!!! just a little thought:) This gospel truly brings families together and the temple is what brings them together!!! I love the temple, I love this gospel, and I love my Savior for making all of this possible! Will never be able to express the words of gratitude I have!!! TOO MANY
those are some of my thoughts from this week and some things that happened! I can't wait to see who guesses the language!!!
